Although the Midwest is a term technically reserved for the United States, this park's position on Lake Superior and proximity to Minnesota makes it a hiking destination for a Midwestern traveler. With so much to explore, this park is ideal for a long weekend, and the gigantic developed campground means you can stay in comfort. For the more adventurous, there are several backpack campsites available with many located on Lake Superior.

This park is a hiker's paradise, and hiking is the best way to experience the gorgeous nature within the park. The signature hike is the Top of the Giant Trail, a nearly 14 mile trek to the top of 1000 foot cliffs overlooking Lake Superior. The Sea Lion Trail is a family favorite that leads to a cool rock formation and a crystal clear bay. Most trails offer absolutely gorgeous scenery, and unlike Minnesota's North Shore, you won't hear any road noise.
