Battle Creek Regional Park, Minnesota

Park Information

Located on the east side of St. Paul and the adjacent suburb of Maplewood, this park is the best place for hiking in the city. Also known as a destination for mountain biking and cross country skiing, you don't have to travel far to experience high quality recreation in this beautifully forested park. Bring your dog and let it run around 35 acres in the fenced-in off leash area. The park is only open between sunrise and sunset and camping is not allowed, but its urban location means there are plenty of lodging opportunities around.

Most of the trails on the west portion of the park are reserved for mountain biking, so the east portion is your best bet for hiking. There are some shorter trails near the aquatic center with a longer loop trail across the street near the dog park.
