Park Information

Directly in the center of the Twin Cities, this park at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers contains the historic fort originally built in 1820. Easily accessed via the excellent bike trails in Minneapolis and St. Paul, this is an ideal day trip to enjoy a beautiful day outside. For a fee, you can view the inside of the fort and learn more about the area's history.

The loop around Pike Island is the main hiking destination in the park. You can also hike around Picnic Island or Snelling Lake. For a longer journey, hike the trail along the Minnesota River. This is one of the best places to hike within the Twin Cities to see fall colors.
